Glass Mat-reinforced Thermoplastics Thermoplastics
Compression moulding of semistructural or structural components with slabs of composite material, consisting of a thermoplastic resin (mostly PP) reinforced with "mat" of long glass fiber, sliding in mould, after heating in an air oven or IR Lamp.
The GMtex variant (containing directed glass fibers instead of random orientation) is used in combination with GMT to locally increase the mechanical properties of the artifact where required.
Application
Underbody and motor repair bottoms, subjected to mechanical and/or thermal loads such that LWRT technology is unsuitable
Spare wheel Tub
Anti-run protections
Carrier door Panels
